Originally built in the late 1950s and designed by Albert Anis, a key architect of Miami’s Art Deco era, Bhojwani Tower first served as a bank and now operates as a mixed-use building with residential and retail spaces. It occupies one of Miami Beach’s busiest pedestrian intersections.
During the renovation, Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design faced the challenge of updating the façade to meet modern building codes while complying with Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board requirements to maintain the building’s original character.
To meet both structural and aesthetic goals, Stoneworks of USA proposed a large-format porcelain panel system reinforced with aluminum honeycomb backing. The system provided an ultra-lightweight solution with approximately 75% greater impact resistance than traditional full-body porcelain, while maintaining long-term stability in high-wind and hurricane conditions.
Design, supply material, installation.
Working closely with the builder, our team engineered, supplied, and installed the façade system, coordinating design intent with structural performance and installation requirements. The completed renovation preserves the building’s historic appearance while meeting today’s construction and durability standards.
